| Z-buffer Technique to create the illusion of depth by giving the viewer the illusion that some objects are in front or behind other objects.
z/OS z/OS is a 64-bit server operating system from IBM aimed at performance. It is the successor to the IBM mainframe operating system OS/390, combining MVS and UNIX System Services.
ZCLV Zoned constant linear velocity. Concentric rings on a disc within which all sectors are the same size. A combination of CLV and CAV. See also CLV and CAV.
ZIF socket A ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) socket is the physical way that xhips (for example the Intel's 486 and Pentium microprocessors) connect on the computer motherboard to the data bus. As its name implies, the ZIF socket is designed for ease of manufacture and so that the average computer owner will be able to upgrade the microprocessor. The ZIF socket contains a lever that opens and closes, securing the microprocessor in place.
