How do I set my Yamakawa to regionfree mode ? Currently there are 2 ways to switch the Yamakawa regionfree. It all depends on the firmware. I noticed that the trick mentioned on the Yamakawa Select regioncode page works too for setting the player to regionfree, however this works fine for firmware 3H, I'm not sure about other firmware version. More details on regioncodes can be found on the on the Regioncodes page. Note: that these secretcodes might not work with firmwares 4x and newer. Tip: consider visiting the Yamakawa DVD group at Yahoo groups!

Note: Firmware 41 is known to be unable to switch to regionfree mode!

FIRMWARE VERSION: 34, 3D and 3E,
try these buttons on your remote control:
"SETUP" - "SLOW" - "SKIP-LEFT" - "PAUSE"

FIRMWARE VERSION: 3C and 3H,
try these buttons on your remote control:
"SETUP" - "8" - "8" - "8" - "SKIP-RIGHT"

For all I know, the next step is to use the "RIGHT" button to select the regionfree mode, which is "***". Once set, press the "PLAY" button on the remote control to make the player accept this code.
